Ian joined the Advanced Propulsion Centre UK (APC) as CEO in 2015. He has held positions globally in the automotive industry and brings more than 25 years’ experience. Prior to APC, Ian worked for Ford Motor Company in Detroit, where he was Global Chief Engineer for Large Cars.

During Ian’s tenure, APC has committed more than £1.6 billion to zero and low-carbon automotive innovation, delivering technologies that reduce carbon emissions while creating jobs, attracting inward investment and strengthening the UK automotive sector.
Ian also heads up Zenzic, which is driving the strategic rollout of Connected Automated Mobility in the UK.

A key focus of Ian’s work has been bringing together industry, academia, and government to accelerate the development and deployment of innovative zero-emission and connected automated mobility technologies. He has been instrumental in the launch of the UK Government’s £4 billion DRIVE35 and CAM Pathfinder programmes.

Alongside his work at APC and Zenzic, Ian played a key role in establishing the Faraday Battery Challenge (Battery Innovation Programme) and serves as a Non-Executive Board Director of the UK Battery Industrialisation Centre (UKBIC).

Ian’s ambition is to see a new generation electric vehicle supply chain, at scale, anchored in the UK.
