IoTSF / TechWorks AI Conference 2025: Welcome & Opening Remarks

November 28, 2025

John Moor, Managing Director of the IoT Security Foundation (IoTSF), opened the 11th IoTSF Annual Conference alongside the very first TechWorks AI Annual Conference.

John Moor outlined IoTSF’s recent progress, including the evolution of its Security Assurance Framework and the launch of the Device Identity Forum. Key themes dominating the industry were discussed: Regulation remains critical, focusing heavily on the EU’s Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) and the ongoing debate between continuous compliance versus continuous assurance. Technology discussions highlighted advancements in memory safety (such as CHERI and Apple’s complete vision for memory safety), the emergence of “quantum by design,” and the urgent need to operationalize Software Bills of Materials (SBOMs) to achieve automation at scale. Finally, John noted that for 2026, the IoTSF will shift its focus toward commercial matters and the market side of security, emphasizing the “buy secure” aspect.

The IoT Security Foundation (IoTSF) is a not-for-profit industry association with a mission to ‘make it safe to connect’ in the era of IoT.
