We are pleased to welcome Rob Farr as NMI Director.
Rob brings more than 30 years of experience across semiconductor manufacturing, education and university research, and we are delighted to have him joining the team.
His appointment comes at an important time as we begin the transition towards the UK Semiconductor Industry Association (UKSIA), bringing together and strengthening our support for the UK semiconductor community.
Over the coming weeks, Rob and I will be reaching out to members to arrange a combination of face-to-face and online meetings. This will be an opportunity to introduce Rob, hear about your current priorities and activities, and discuss any areas where you would like to see NMI supporting you and the wider UK semiconductor community.
If you would like to arrange a meeting with Rob in the meantime, please do get in touch and I will be happy to coordinate a suitable time.
About Rob
Rob began his career in semiconductor process engineering after graduating in Electronics from Durham University, working at Fujitsu before moving to Siemens in Munich and Tyneside, and later Philips Semiconductors, where he held senior engineering and development management roles.
He subsequently spent 15 years in education as a physics teacher and senior school leader before returning to the semiconductor sector at the University of Leeds. As Senior Experimental Officer at the Leeds Nanotechnology Cleanroom, Rob supported both academic and industrial research, developed fabrication processes and delivered specialist training for engineers and students.
In his new role, Rob will work closely with NMI members and the wider UK semiconductor community to strengthen industry networks, develop opportunities for knowledge exchange and skills development, and help organisations across manufacturing, design, supply chains and academia to connect and collaborate.
Please join us in welcoming Rob to NMI. We look forward to working with you all over the coming months.
