AESIN Conference 2025 Panel: How to attract and maintain more women in STEM roles

October 20, 2025

Chaired by Hannah Dolan, Senior Manager for Advocacy and Alliances for Nexperia in the UK, the panel discuss future talent and how to attract and maintain more women in STEM roles. Panelists from academia and industry share personal experiences of barriers such as stereotypes, male-dominated environments, lack of confidence, microaggressions, and challenges around leadership, visibility, and work–life balance, including pregnancy during doctoral studies. Speakers emphasize the importance of confidence-building, strong networks, allies, mentors, and supportive leadership in helping women overcome these obstacles, as well as the need to challenge assumptions that women must constantly prove themselves.
