Biography
Richard Gordon joined Ricardo Engineering in 1995, spending 9 years in powertrain R&D, eventually leading the design, build and global demonstration of Ricardo’s first hybrid electric vehicle in 2003. He worked in Japan for 3 years, growing Ricardo’s presence there with OEMs and suppliers, and on return led Ricardo’s Niche Technology Vehicles area, responsible for the world’s first robotic aircraft tug. He then led a Technology Strategy group advising customers on new technology deployment before moving to Silicon Valley for two years in 2016, leading wireless charging, vehicle electrification, GaN power electronics research and powertrain controls projects. Back in the UK, he headed Ricardo’s R&D portfolio and teams across all technical domains. He moved to a project director role in 2022 for advanced technology projects, delivering the development and demonstration of a 500kW marine hydrogen fuel cell system and concepts for multi-megawatt containerisation. He is now responsible for advanced electrification projects.
